Hello my name is David Sparrock and I am running for Tiny Council.

I was inspired to run for Council because I am passionate about Tiny Township and I believe I can help foster a solutions based approach that will address the many issues facing Tiny’s taxpayers today. I have spent my career making informed decisions, negotiating strong outcomes, working collaboratively with others, and delivering results. I am running as an independent and not on a slate.

History

I have been in Tiny Township for over sixty years from early childhood to present day. My Grandparents owned a cottage on Quesnelle Drive and as a child I came up every summer with my family. The cottage stayed in the family for fifty years. Thirty five years ago I purchased a back lot cottage on Ardmore Beach which I owned for 15 years. Twenty years ago I purchased a waterfront cottage on Wahnekewening, which had originally been my great Grandmother’s.

Experience

I am a retired police officer, serving first with Peel Regional Police for sixteen years and the transferring to Ontario Provincial Police for seventeen years. I believe my past police experience will be beneficial for solving problems and resolving conflicts. My policing career gave me many opportunities to work on conflict resolutions. I am able to look at both sides of an issue and understand both points of view and then work towards creating positive solutions based on fairness and integrity.

I have worked 20 years with The Good Shepherd in Hamilton, which is a charitable organization helping with food banks and many other services. I saw a community need and I utilized my police resources and organizational skills to recruit a large volunteer force to assist with food and toy drives during the Christmas season at major supermarkets. Over 20 years my food and toy drives have raised over $1.7 million dollars in donations.
